Marilyn Blatt Young Dissertation Completion Fellowship

About this program

The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR) offers one annual six-month, $15,000 Marilyn Blatt Young Dissertation Completion Fellowship to support doctoral candidates in completing their dissertations. Applicants must be PhD candidates in the humanities or social sciences, admitted to candidacy and in the writing stage with substantial research completed, and must be SHAFR members studying U.S. foreign relations or international history broadly defined. Applications require a one-page letter, three-page research statement, CV, and advisor recommendation; the annual deadline is February 1. Recipients are expected to prioritize dissertation completion and submit a 250-word report at the fellowship’s conclusion.
