Marr Prize — Best Student Paper

About this program

The Cognitive Science Society offers a suite of conference awards and grants to recognize research and support attendance at its annual meeting, including the Marr Prize for best student paper ($2,000 + complimentary registration), four Computational Modeling Prizes ($1,250 + registration), the Sayan Gul undergraduate travel award ($750 + registration), multiple diversity and disciplinary awards (typically $1,000–$1,250), student travel grants (approx. $750–$1,500 each), and a CogSci Family Care Grant (up to $500). Most awards are applied for via the abstract submission form during the November 30–February 1 period, with award notices typically sent in mid‑May. Eligibility varies by award: the Marr Prize requires a student first author (or recent graduate if the work was completed as a student), computational and diversity awards may be open to researchers at any career stage, and student travel grants require a student first author on an accepted full paper. The Family Care Grant is available to CogSci members with dependents who are registered presenters (deadline May 11), and reimbursable expenses must be documented after the conference.
