McAulay-Hope Prize for Original Biophysics

The Australian Society for Biophysics (ASB) awards the McAulay‑Hope Prize for Original Biophysics—a medal and A$1,000 to support dissemination and further development—to recognise truly original, innovative biophysics research of high international impact; awardees present a lecture at the ASB annual conference and the Prize is only made when a nomination meets the Society’s standards. Nominees must have been financial ASB members for at least two consecutive years immediately prior to nomination, and the work should have been carried out principally in Australia or New Zealand; nominators must be current ASB members and self‑nomination is not permitted. Nominations must include a covering letter summarising achievements, a CV with a full publications list, and two confidential referee reports (≤2 pages) sent directly to the ASB Secretary; the Prize Committee (council/ex‑council/former awardees plus the Secretary) assesses applications and may seek an external referee or withhold the award if no suitable candidate is identified.
