McMillan-Stewart Fellowship in Distinguished Filmmaking

Funded by the McMillan‑Stewart endowment at Harvard’s Film Study Center, the fellowship supports outstanding filmmakers from Africa or the African diaspora by sponsoring a laureate’s residency and purchasing a representative work for preservation in the Harvard Film Archive. The award enables the fellow to visit Harvard to present screenings, talks, and other engagements with the University community. Eligible applicants are accomplished filmmakers of African origin or from the African diaspora with a distinguished body of work. Laureates are expected to undertake the residency and provide a representative film for archival acquisition.
