Medical Humanities Fellowship — Stanford Humanities Center

About this program

Stanford Humanities Center invites Stanford Medicine physicians to apply for Medical Humanities Fellowships for the 2026–27 academic year; the fellowships support nonfiction or scholarly projects in the medical humanities and are reviewed on a rolling basis. Fellows receive a dedicated office at the Center, join an interdisciplinary scholarly community, and typically hold residency for one academic quarter (shorter stays may be considered). Eligible applicants are Stanford Medicine affiliates (UML and UTL faculty, clinical educators, and SoM instructors with access to sabbatical or professional development leave); fellows must be excused from at least 80% of research and clinical duties during the term and must provide documentation from their Division Chief or Department Chair confirming coverage of the Center’s $6,000 fee.
