About this program
American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) awards the Melba Newell Phillips Medal to recognize AAPT leaders whose creative leadership and dedicated service have produced exceptional contributions to the association. Recipients receive a monetary award, the medal and certificate, and travel expenses to deliver an address at the AAPT meeting where the medal is presented. Nominees must be AAPT members; nominations are submitted by others via the AAPT nomination form (self-nomination is not appropriate), and the medal is awarded only occasionally to individuals with sustained, demonstrable leadership and service.
