Melbourne R. Carriker Student Research Awards in Malacology

About this program

The American Malacological Society offers the Melbourne R. Carriker Student Research Awards to support student research in malacology, honoring Prof. Carriker; typically 4–6 awards of up to $1,500 are made annually and awardees are encouraged to present results at the AMS annual meeting. Applicants must be students and current members of the AMS, and proposed research must focus on molluscs (institutional overhead is not permitted). Applications are submitted as a single PDF named LastName_Carriker.pdf via the online form and must include a 2‑page research proposal (literature may extend to a third page), a brief private statement on JEDI and/or under‑represented status, a CV, and any required permits. Recipients must submit a short research summary for the AMS Newsletter within one year; proposals are judged on novelty/importance, feasibility, clarity, budget appropriateness, and contribution to the applicant’s development; deadline: March 31.
