Membership Support Grants

About this program

The American Academy of Religion (AAR) offers Membership Support Grants to help lapsed members regain access to AAR benefits, including discounted Annual Meeting registration, networking, and professional promotion. Each grant covers the cost of one year of membership and is awarded once per member on a first-come, first-served basis while funds remain available. Applicants must not hold current AAR membership, must have been a member within the past three years, be a new graduate student, or request an exception; their most recent category must have been Contingent, Applied Religious Studies, Independent Scholar, or Student. Applicants must also demonstrate economic hardship caused by loss of income or institutional support and submit one online application.
