Mentorship of Teachers Award

About this program

The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (APA Division Two) solicits nominations for the Mentorship of Teachers Award to recognize outstanding mentoring of teachers (not limited to psychology); the award includes a $1,500 monetary prize or up to $1,500 in travel reimbursement to attend STP’s Annual Conference on Teaching, plus a plaque. Eligible applicants are STP members who have demonstrated exceptional mentorship across career stages—graduate student teachers through senior faculty—by sharing expertise, advising on tenure/promotion, supporting Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and offering professional development; priority is given to those who have not previously received the award and submissions from underrepresented groups are encouraged. Applications require a two-page cover letter describing mentorship contributions, a full CV, three letters of support (including at least one from a mentee), and a letter of support from the applicant’s supervisor (department chair, dean, program director, or provost); materials must be submitted via STP login by February 15 (recurring), and STP reserves the right not to make an award in a given year.
