Michael Kraus Research Grants in American Colonial History

About this program

The American Historical Association offers Michael Kraus Research Grants of up to $800 for research in progress on American colonial history, particularly intercultural American-European relations. Funds may support travel, archival access, copying or imaging, research assistance, childcare, and other project-related expenses. Applicants must be AHA members; preference is given to advanced doctoral students, nontenured faculty, and unaffiliated scholars, with a five-year lifetime limit of $1,500 across AHA research grants. Applications require a CV, a project and budget statement of up to 750 words, and a one-page bibliography; the deadline was February 15, 2026.
