About this program

The Michelson Found Animals Foundation administers the Michelson Prize & Grants program—a $75 million initiative that includes a $25M prize—to accelerate development of a permanent, single‑dose, nonsurgical sterilant for male and female cats and dogs. Applicants must register by emailing michelsonprize@foundanimals.org and submit a Registration Letter outlining the proposed product, collaborators and institutions, a plausible hypothesis addressing all prize criteria, and a signed agreement to comply with the Policy for Animals Involved in Research; approved registrants must then sign and return the Competition Guidelines before submitting a full application. Eligibility is open to researchers or teams from institutions or organizations with a viable development plan and supporting data, and participants must progress through the multi‑step process (registration, application, Prize Study) to compete for the prize.
