Mildred Weisenfeld Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) offers the Mildred Weisenfeld Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology to recognize distinguished scholarly contributions to the clinical practice of ophthalmology. The recipient presents the Weisenfeld Award Lecture at the ARVO Annual Meeting and receives a plaque, complimentary registration, hotel, travel, and per diem; applications open November 1, 2026, and close March 1, 2027. Nominees should be mid- or late-career regular members and must be supported by a nomination letter, two support letters, a summary statement, Google Scholar profile, and CV. Nominees and nominators need not be ARVO members, but current ARVO officers, trustees, and Awards Committee members are ineligible, and prior ARVO award recipients generally may not be nominated for another award.
