Minnesota Rural Pharmacist Loan Forgiveness Program

About this program

The Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Rural Health and Primary Care offers the Minnesota Rural Pharmacist Loan Forgiveness Program to recruit and retain pharmacists in underserved rural Minnesota communities. Selected participants may receive up to $26,000 annually, for a maximum of four years and $104,000 total, toward qualified educational loans. Eligible applicants must be licensed pharmacists or in their final year of pharmacy school or residency, with preference given to those nearing completion of training and demonstrating cultural competency. Participants must live and work in Minnesota, serve at least 30 hours per week for 45 weeks annually in a designated rural area for a minimum of three years, and apply through the Online Grants Portal between November 1, 2026, and January 6, 2027.
