Mitchell Prize Submission Guidelines

RSVP's Sally Mitchell Dissertation Prize recognizes recently defended PhD dissertations on the nineteenth-century periodical press, awarding an annual prize judged by a prize committee. Applications open January 15 and are due March 1 via the online portal (https://rs4vp.smapply.io/prog/sally_mitchell/); the winner is typically announced in July or August. Eligible applicants must have successfully defended their dissertation within the previous calendar year and submit an applicant information form (with full contact details), title page, abstract, table of contents, a sample chapter (do not submit the full dissertation), and the dissertation advisor's name and email—advisors will be asked to confirm the viva/defense date. After initial review the committee may request full dissertations for further consideration; see the eligibility PDF for additional details.
