About this program

The Education and Research Foundation funds the Mitzi & William Blahd, MD Pilot Research Grant to support early-career basic or clinical scientists undertaking research—preferably translational in vivo studies involving radionuclide imaging or therapy—that may lead to further funding; award funds may be used for the PI’s salary and direct supplies/equipment but not for other research personnel or indirect costs. Eligible applicants must hold an advanced degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent), be within five years of completing their most recent training, not have been PI on a peer-reviewed grant exceeding $50,000 in a single calendar year, and will hold a full-time academic position when the award begins; SNMMI membership at the time of award is required. Application materials include a current CV, a research abstract and detailed proposal (≤10 pages excluding references), and two letters of recommendation (one from the program director/research supervisor and one from a professional colleague); applications open in October 2025.
