MRF New Investigator Grant

About this program

The Medical Research Foundation (MRF) of Oregon offers New Investigator grants to support promising early-career biomedical researchers based at Oregon colleges or universities, awarding up to $50,000 to help establish projects with potential to secure national funding. Applicants must hold a faculty appointment and be beginning an independent research career (typically assistant professor or equivalent); prior PIs on major national grants are generally ineligible (career development award recipients may apply), and postdoctoral fellows, trainees, and visiting scientists are not eligible. A departmental/institute letter attesting to the applicant’s independence and institutional commitment is required, and projects must relate to human health; requests for major equipment are discouraged. Human/animal/recombinant DNA studies require appropriate IRB/IACUC/IBC approvals before funds will be released, and strong mentorship and institutional support are expected.
