Murdock College Research Program for Natural Sciences

About this program

The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust’s Murdock College Research Program for Natural Sciences provides up to $70,000 for up to three years of original natural sciences research at private, predominantly undergraduate institutions, with emphasis on scientific merit, undergraduate involvement, and research initiation. Funds support direct research costs, including equipment, supplies, and summer stipends, with required institutional cost-sharing and a sustaining external-funding proposal for the final payment. Eligible applicants must hold qualifying faculty appointments at baccalaureate institutions without doctoral science programs in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington, and must not have previously received support through the program. Applications are by invitation only, and proposed work must not be an ongoing project already supported by other external funding.
