Murray Prize for History

About this program

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland awards the biennial Murray Prize for History, funded by Dr Peter Murray, which recognizes the best original paper on the history of Scotland c. AD 500–1700 published in the Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland (PSAS) and carries a £200 prize and a silver medal. Eligible submissions must present original research set within a British and/or European context; for this prize “history” includes all fields except archaeology. All papers submitted to PSAS that meet these criteria are considered by the Editorial Advisory Board and the Grants and Awards Committee (PSAS annual submission deadline 30 November); winners are announced at the Society’s Annual General Meeting the following November.
