Museums & Galleries Research Award

About this program

The Society for Renaissance Studies offers the Museums & Galleries Research Award, a bursary of £200–£1,000 to support advanced research on the making, collecting, interpretation and display of Renaissance (c.1300–1700) works held in museums, galleries, archives and libraries, with an emphasis on projects that may inform publications, exhibitions or innovative interpretation. Preference is given to cross‑disciplinary work linked to current museum projects; awards are tenable for up to 12 months and funds must be claimed within 18 months. Applicants must be members of the SRS at any career stage and submit the Society application form with project details, a budget and allowable-cost justification (e.g. travel, accommodation up to £80/night, subsistence up to £25/day, reproduction rights; not for replacement staff). Original invoices/receipts and a detailed report to the Treasurer are required before payment; there is one annual deadline (listed as 1 December) and enquiries should be directed to the Society’s museums and galleries officer.
