MUVE Student Recognition Awards

About this program

The Entomological Society of America (MUVE Section) offers the MUVE Student Recognition Awards to honor outstanding M.S. and Ph.D. students in Medical, Urban, and Veterinary Entomology for excellence in academic performance and contributions to research, teaching, and service; awardees receive a plaque and $250 presented at the ESA Annual Meeting during the MUVE networking business meeting. Nominations are submitted online via the MUVE Award Nomination site and must include a cover letter to the MUVE president, a CV (template provided), a nomination letter from the academic advisor, and a one-page research abstract; all documents must be uploaded individually using no font smaller than 10-point and candidates are evaluated on a 50-point rubric across academic record, publications, outreach/teaching, ESA contributions, project abstract, and support letter. Eligible nominees must be ESA members affiliated with the MUVE Section at time of nomination, must not have completed their degree within one year of the award presentation, and must not have previously received the same award; the section aims to recognize up to three Ph.D. and three M.S. students, though number and diversity of awards may vary and no award is given if no nominations are received.
