Nature Based Climate Action Program

About this program

The Lumpkin Family Foundation’s Nature-Based Climate Action Program funds projects in East Central Illinois that deliver measurable carbon drawdown and habitat restoration through tree planting, prairie and wetland restoration, waterway rehabilitation, regenerative agriculture, and related climate action. Grants generally range from $2,500 to $50,000, with an average award of $25,000, and may also support community engagement, policy change, climate science, and demonstration projects. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and fiscally sponsored projects, with preference given to rural organizations, small cities and towns, and collaborative initiatives; individuals and event proposals are not eligible. Letters of inquiry are accepted June 29–July 31, 2026, with invited applications due September 8, 2026.
