Neil Miner Award (Stimulation of Interest in the Earth Sciences)

The National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) presents the annual Neil Miner Award to recognize individuals who have made exceptional, sustained, and innovative contributions that stimulate interest in the Earth sciences. Any geoscience educator may be nominated by a current NAGT member; nominations are submitted via an online form and remain active for three years, with an April 15 deadline indicated on the posting. Required materials are a nomination letter describing how the nominee meets the award criteria, the nominee’s CV, and up to four supporting letters (maximum two pages each) including at least one from a student, one from a colleague, and one from an administrator; all letters must be written specifically for this nomination. A standing committee evaluates packages using a rubric that emphasizes documented stimulation of interest, impact on multiple audiences, and the exceptional nature of contributions relative to the nominee’s role and career stage.
