Next Generation Psychiatrist Awards

About this program

The European Psychiatric Association (EPA) offers the Next Generation Psychiatrist Awards, granting five individual prizes of €2,000 (total €10,000) and an invitation to the 2026 EPA Congress to outstanding early-career psychiatrists in the WHO Europe region. The awards recognize excellence in research, writing, academic engagement and commitment to advancing psychiatry across five categories: Clinical Psychiatry; Public Mental Health, Social Psychiatry & Epidemiology; Pharmacological and Non‑pharmacological Treatments; Psychopathology; and Brain and Mental Health in the Lifespan. Eligible applicants are individual early-career psychiatrists (under 40 years old or within five years of completing specialist training) working in a WHO Europe country. Applications (in English) must include a 2‑page biosketch (education, current position, experience, research activities and publications from the past five years, congress attendance and visiting experience), a 1‑page motivation essay addressing the chosen category and expected impact of congress participation, and a reference letter from an academic mentor; submissions are reviewed by an EPA leadership Selection Committee.
