NMPRA Research Grant

About this program

National Med-Peds Residents' Association (NMPRA) offers pilot research grants of up to $2,500 (with up to $500 allowable for travel to present results) to support Med–Peds resident–led clinical research across clinical research, outcomes/health services, public health, epidemiology, informatics, and related domains; presentation at the NMPRA National Conference is required. Awards are one-time, projects must be initiated by October and completed within one year, and quality-improvement projects lacking rigorous research methodology are ineligible. Eligible PIs are Med–Peds resident physicians or '5th-year' chief residents who are NMPRA members or have applied; applications must include a cover page, budget and justification (no indirects or PI/mentor salary), an 8-page maximum proposal, NIH biosketches for PI and mentor, a mentor letter specifying commitments, and a residency program director letter confirming good standing and protected research time. IRB approval or exemption is required before funds are released, and awardees must submit progress and final reports and acknowledge NMPRA funding in related abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.
