About this program

Funded by SAMHSA and administered by the Minority Fellowship Program, the Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship Program (IMFP) provides training support to increase the number of ethnic minority behavioral health professionals and reduce mental health and co‑occurring substance use disparities among U.S. ethnic and racial minorities. Eligible applicants are ethnic minority graduate students in psychology, nursing, social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, or substance use/addictions counseling who demonstrate promise and a commitment to improving quality of care for ethnic and racial minorities. Selection prioritizes candidates with a clear commitment to careers addressing behavioral health service needs of ethnic minorities; application deadline January 15, 2026.
