About this program

The Jacquelin Goldman Congressional Fellowship, funded by a bequest to the American Psychological Foundation and administered by the American Psychological Association with professional development by AAAS, provides a one-year public policy placement on Capitol Hill to integrate child-development psychological expertise into government decision-making. Fellows receive a $93,750 stipend, health insurance reimbursement, a $3,500 professional development stipend, a 2-week orientation on congressional/executive operations, and a yearlong AAAS seminar; duties may include drafting legislation, conducting oversight, assisting with hearings, and preparing briefs and speeches. Eligible applicants are developmental or clinical psychologists with expertise in the psychological development of children and experience working directly with children who have an interest in public policy; APF will sponsor up to one fellow for a term beginning about August 30, 2026 (application deadline January 4, 2026).
