About this program

Community Foundation of Central Georgia's Nonprofit Grant Program awards competitive grants (maximum $25,000; average $10,000–$15,000) to community-based charitable organizations for projects that improve quality of life in the Central Georgia region, with two annual deadlines (June 30 and December 31) and decisions announced roughly three months after each deadline. Grants are funded from the Foundation's unrestricted and named funds, and grantees must submit final project and financial reports via the online portal within 60 days of fund depletion or no later than one year from the cycle deadline. Eligible applicants are community-based nonprofits (including faith-based organizations for non‑sectarian outreach) that are 501(c)(3) or can document tax-exempt status; priority is given to projects that scale proven solutions, reach broad segments of the community, improve organizational efficiency, promote self-sufficiency of disadvantaged/disabled individuals, enhance fundraising/matching gifts, or collaborate with other nonprofits, while operational expenses are typically not funded. Applications must be filed through the Foundation’s online grants portal (registration required) with required PDFs—project budget summary, project photo, board authorization letter and board list, current annual operating budget, IRS determination letter or statement of status, and most recent audit or Form 990—and only one proposal per organization is allowed in any 12‑month period; organizations funded two consecutive years must wait two years to reapply and prior grantees must have final reports on file.
