Norwegian Visiting Lectureship

The American-Scandinavian Foundation offers a one-semester Norwegian Visiting Lectureship for U.S. colleges and universities, providing a $20,000 teaching and research stipend and $5,000 for travel to external lectures and conferences. The program supports contemporary scholarship focused on public policy, conflict resolution, environmental studies, multiculturalism, or healthcare, with an emphasis on incorporating Scandinavian perspectives into academic offerings. Applicants must be American colleges or universities, which are responsible for selecting a Norwegian citizen who is a scholar or expert in an appropriate field and for arranging teaching, housing, communications, and public presentations. Applications are due January 1, 2027, and the host institution must provide complementary support and submit a final report within 60 days of the lectureship’s conclusion.
