NPRB Outreach Program — Outreach sub-award RFP (Up to $25,000/project)

About this program

The North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) offers outreach sub-awards (up to $25,000 per project, $150,000 total annually) to fund communication, education, and stakeholder engagement activities that directly complement NPRB Core Program–funded research; the Outreach RFP is issued annually with rolling funding decisions twice a year. Only institutions that have received Core Program funding in the same calendar year (or their designated outreach entities) may apply, and outreach proposals must be submitted within 90 days of Core-funding notification. Proposals undergo multi-stage review (staff, external peer review, Science and Advisory Panels, and Board) and are evaluated for innovation, applicability to target audiences, linkage to the Core project, return on investment, long-term impacts, and overall effectiveness; acceptable deliverables must extend beyond simple fact sheets or webpages, and student theses or peer‑reviewed publications alone do not satisfy outreach requirements. Applicants must use NPRB-provided proposal and budget templates (noncompliant submissions are screened out) and must submit semiannual progress reports and a final report; letters of support from local or tribal governing bodies are encouraged for projects engaging Alaskan communities.
