NZBI Scholarship to support biosecurity research

About this program

The New Zealand Biosecurity Institute offers an annual NZBI Scholarship of up to NZ$2,000 (single payment for a 12‑month period) plus two years’ complementary NZBI membership to support individual research that improves knowledge and practical outcomes in biosecurity (not study‑only). Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or residents undertaking biosecurity research and provide evidence of affiliation with a recognised tertiary provider or employer, two referees, a statement of relevance, and supporting evidence; employer approval is preferred. Selection emphasizes value to New Zealand biosecurity and practical relevance to NZBI aims; previous recipients are subject to a three‑year stand‑down, and awardees must submit a final written report (within six months of completion), annual progress reports for long projects, and an article for NZBI Protect, with payment potentially withheld until project confirmation.
