About this program

Omidyar Network’s Tech Journalism Fund offers $5,000–$25,000 project grants to cover reporting costs for single, time- and resource-intensive journalism projects about how technology and society intersect. Proposals on any topic are welcome, with priority given to work on AI and tech-sector regulation and policy, investigative reporting on companies and actors shaping AI/tech, AI’s impact on children and families, and how workers, unions, and employers are responding to AI and other workplace technologies. US-based journalists—freelancers, staff reporters, editors, or teams—are eligible; allowable expenses include travel, research and fact‑checking, multimedia enhancements, data access, and stipends, all applications must include a detailed budget, and submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis (typically within 30 days).
