About this program

The Pulitzer Center, a nonprofit supporting independent global journalism, offers grants for in-depth reporting on climate change and its effects on workers, employment sectors, manufacturing, labor rights, supply chains, and sustainability. Freelance and staff journalists may propose projects in print, digital, broadcast, film, radio, data, or computer-assisted formats, with awards determined by project scope, complexity, formats, and distribution plans; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority for projects completed within one to four months. U.S. residents and journalists worldwide are eligible, and proposals should include a project description of up to 250 words, preliminary budget, compelling distribution plan, and—where applicable—letters of commitment from publishing outlets. The Center especially encourages applicants from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds and reporting focused on Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America.
