Outreach and Event Grant

About this program

The Design History Society (DHS) offers an Outreach and Event Grant to support members in convening free public events (workshops, seminars, lectures) that promote design history, with a total of £3,000 awarded annually across multiple awards and individual grants capped at £1,000. Eligible applicants are DHS members (including independent and affiliated researchers), may submit one application per calendar year, and must stage the event within 12 months of application; applications are accepted year‑round from 1 January until funds are exhausted. Funding covers non‑alcohol reception catering, venue and equipment hire, and speakers’ standard‑class return travel within the event country, while retrospective costs, alcohol, premium‑class travel, teaching cover, and employment/administration costs are ineligible. Applications are anonymised and assessed by Executive Board members on originality, impact, feasibility, applicant suitability, timeline, dissemination and value for money; successful applicants must provide a 500–800 word report with a copyright‑free image within six months and should email the completed form to designhistorysociety@gmail.com.
