Paediatric Intensive Care Society (PCCS) Research Award (biannual)

About this program

The Paediatric Intensive Care Society (PCCS) offers biannual small research awards (typically £1,000–£2,500, maximum £2,500) to support basic science or clinical research relevant to paediatric intensive care, with priority for pilot work and novel/significant developments that generate data for larger grants. Two rounds run each year (announced in February with applications due end of March, and announced in July with applications due end of August); outcomes are communicated by end of April for round 1 and at the PCCS conference for round 2, and awards are paid via the applicant’s hospital/institution for a two‑year period. Applicants must include at least one PCCS member, and the principal applicant should be a clinician, nurse or other clinical practitioner currently practising in paediatric intensive care in the UK or Ireland; projects must be directly relevant to paediatric intensive care. Projects must commence within six months of the award (otherwise funds must be refunded) and recipients must submit a final report to the Education and Science Committee within 12 months of the award end date and/or present an abstract at the PCCS annual conference.
