Paleontological Society Collections Grant

About this program

The Paleontological Society’s Collections Grant funds curatorial and digitization projects for paleontological/paleobiological natural history collections—e.g., curation, digitization, rehousing, georeferencing, staffing/training, supplies, shipping, and workshops—with awards of $500–$5,000 and typically 2–10 awards annually. Lead applicants must be current Paleontological Society members (provide member number) and may be curators, faculty, collection managers or staff, graduate/undergraduate students, or avocational collectors/clubs; grants may be paid to individuals or institutions but cannot cover overhead/indirect costs. Electronic applications must include a maximum 3-page proposal, detailed itemized budget with justification and other funding disclosures, a one-page letter of organizational support, and one-page CVs for lead personnel; deadline is listed as June 1 (no year specified) with notifications by August 15 and a required follow-up report the next August. If funds are paid to an individual the Society will issue an IRS 1099; review considers significance, feasibility, impact, and budget soundness.
