The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP) offers the Patrick Leary Resource Development Grant, awarding up to $27,500 (USD) to create or improve print or digital resources that facilitate research on the British newspaper and periodical press in the long nineteenth century (ca. 1780–1914). Eligible projects include collaborative publications, digitization, indices/bibliographies, technology demonstrations, workshops, and other resource‑focused initiatives; award funds must be expended within one year, resulting resources must be freely accessible, and indirect costs are not permitted. Applicants may be individual researchers or teams (including independent and retired scholars) from anywhere, but must designate one PI per application (PIs may submit only one proposal), graduate students may serve only as co‑PIs or collaborators, and RSVP officers/directors are ineligible. Applications are submitted via RSVP’s Smapply portal and require a project narrative (up to five single‑spaced pages), CVs for collaborators, a one‑page budget and justification, a 75–100 word summary, and two recommenders who upload letters; awardees must accept by email within two weeks and submit a final narrative report.
