peermusic Latin Music Award

About this program

peermusic Latin Music Award, administered by the BMI Foundation with support from peermusic, awards a US$5,000 annual scholarship for the best original Latin song or instrumental composition. The competition is open to student lyricists and composers aged 17–24 as of June 30, 2026, who reside in the United States or Puerto Rico. Submitted works must be original, not assigned to a major music publisher or label, and not commercially recorded or distributed; coauthored entries (maximum three authors) are permitted provided all coauthors meet eligibility, only composers are listed, and the prize is split equally. Applicants may submit only one entry to a BMI Foundation awards program (previous peermusic award winners are ineligible; honorable-mention recipients may reapply), must submit an audio file and a lyric file if applicable, and apply via the BMI Foundation application form.
