peermusic Latin Music Award

About this program

BMI Foundation's peermusic Latin Music Award is an annual competition (est. 2003) that awards a $5,000 scholarship for the best original song or instrumental composition in any Latin genre. Eligible applicants are student songwriters and composers based in the United States or Puerto Rico who are 17–24 years old as of February 15, 2025. Submissions must be original, not commercially recorded or distributed, not assigned to any major music publisher or major record label, and each applicant may submit only one entry per BMI Foundation awards program (works may not be entered in multiple BMI programs). Previous award winners are ineligible (honorable mentions may reapply); co-written works are allowed with up to three writers who all meet eligibility and will split the award evenly, and submissions must include one audio file and a lyric sheet if applicable.
