PERF Infrastructure/Registry Research Grant (Pediatric Neurology)

About this program

PERF® funds Infrastructure/Registry Research Grants of up to $300,000 over three years (typically $100,000/year) to develop new multicenter registries/networks or to expand the scientific scope of existing multicenter infrastructure in pediatric neurology, with special interest in pediatric epilepsy. Eligible applicants are pediatric neurologists (MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent) or PhD investigators in relevant areas who are legal residents of the United States or Canada and hold appointments at U.S. or Canadian institutions; new multicenter proposals must include at least three separate academic institutions actively enrolling participants, while enhancement proposals must expand scientific scope rather than merely increase site numbers. Every invited application must include a mentoring plan and projects are expected to provide training/mentorship of early-stage investigators; ESIs serving as PIs must demonstrate adequate mentorship and established investigators must show leadership and plans to mentor juniors, and applicants may submit only one LOI per cycle and be PI on only one PERF-funded research grant at a time. F&A is generally not permitted (exceptions up to $8,000/year within the $100,000 cap), PERF follows the NIH salary cap, $10,000 is withheld from Year 1 and 10% of each payment is retained pending acceptable annual scientific and financial reports, with funding beginning September 1.
