Peter K. New Award (Peter Kong-ming New Student Research Competition)

The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) administers the annual Peter K. New Student Research Competition to recognize outstanding single‑authored student research that applies the social sciences to health care or human services; awards include $3,000 (first place, plus an engraved trophy, $350 travel stipend and two nights’ lodging), $1,500 (second) and $750 (third), with travel stipends and lodging for top winners. Eligibility is limited to undergraduate and graduate students who were enrolled during the calendar year prior to the award presentation; doctorate holders and prior first‑ or second‑place winners are not eligible. Manuscripts must be anonymized, single‑authored, based on original unpublished field research (not multiple‑author works, unaltered undergraduate papers, or unaltered theses/dissertations), double‑spaced in at least 12‑point font and no more than 45 pages inclusive of notes, tables and appendices; first‑place recipients must present at the SfAA Annual Meeting and submit their paper to Human Organization.
