About this program

NATA Research & Education Foundation, in collaboration with the PFATS Foundation, is soliciting short-term (1–2 year) research grants of up to $20,000 to fund feasible, data-driven projects that deliver early, demonstrable improvements in football athlete health and safety. Priority areas include injury prevention and management (including concussions and heat illness), player monitoring and return-to-play strategies, emergency preparedness and critical health outcomes, continuity of care/system-level issues, and administrative or policy factors affecting player safety. Any health care professional, researcher, or educator may apply, but the PI or Co-PI must be a BOC‑certified athletic trainer, NATA member, and hold an NPI number, and the applicant must be the individual whose research will be supported; applications must be submitted through the NATA Foundation’s professional grant program. Awardees are expected to present a mid-term update and attend (via Zoom or written report) the NFL Health and Safety Summit.
