About this program

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi awards twelve $10,000 Dissertation Fellowships annually (one designated the Missy Hopper Fellowship) to support doctoral candidates in the dissertation-writing stage for 12 months. Applications open Oct. 1, 2026, and are due Nov. 30, 2026, with recipients notified March 1, 2027. Applicants must be active (dues-current) Phi Kappa Phi members or accepted for membership by Nov. 30, 2026, enrolled at a U.S. regionally accredited doctoral-granting institution, have completed all pre-dissertation requirements (including an approved proposal), and have endorsement from their dissertation chair; applicants may not be Phi Kappa Phi board members, divisional vice presidents, members of the Dissertation Fellowship Award committee, or Society employees. Applications require a letter explaining how the award will aid completion and the significance of the research, a 300-word abstract, CV, and the dissertation chair’s certification/endorsement (must be received by the deadline).
