Pilot Research Award in Liver Diseases

About this program

The AASLD Foundation offers a one-year, $50,000 Pilot Research Award to support innovative, hypothesis-driven basic, clinical, translational, or outcomes research in liver diseases that lacks sufficient preliminary data and is distinct from ongoing projects. Projects must be feasible within one year and include one or two aims, with awards covering direct project expenses but excluding indirect costs, registration fees, and travel. Applicants must be AASLD members at or below the rank of Associate Professor, commit at least 20% effort, and be sponsored by an eligible nonprofit institution in the United States, Canada, or Mexico; Assistant Professors require an AASLD-member mentor. Applications are due December 7, 2026, and applicants generally may not hold overlapping federal funding or submit more than one AASLD Foundation application per calendar year.
