Pipeline Grants Competition (Sheldon Danziger)

About this program

Russell Sage Foundation offers three funding streams to support doctoral and early-career social‑science research: the Sheldon Danziger Pipeline Grants Competition for assistant professors, lecturers, and adjunct assistant professors; Dissertation Research Grants for innovative dissertations aligned with RSF priority areas; and the Causal Research on the Criminal Justice System competition (co‑funded with Arnold Ventures) to promote causal studies of policing, courts, jails, prisons, probation/parole, and immigration detention. Awards fund innovative, policy‑relevant research and aim to cultivate a pipeline of scholars conducting causal research on the criminal justice system. Eligibility varies by program: Pipeline Grants require early‑career faculty who have not previously received RSF Trustee or Presidential research grants or visiting fellowships and prioritize applicants underrepresented in the social sciences or based at under‑resourced institutions; Dissertation Grants are for doctoral candidates whose projects address RSF priorities; the CRCJ competition targets early‑career researchers focused on causal criminal‑justice research.
