Polly Stewart Student Travel Stipend

About this program

The American Folklore Society’s Women’s Section offers the Polly Stewart Student Travel Stipend to support students and recent graduates presenting research at the annual AFS meeting, with awards of $1,000 and $600 for transportation, registration, lodging, and per diem expenses. Applicants must be enrolled at the time of application, be members of the AFS Women’s Section, demonstrate research focused on women’s folklore, gender issues, or feminist folklore studies, and have an accepted meeting proposal. Applicants must attend at least two full meeting days, submit a post-meeting report, serve on the selection committee the following year, and have not previously received the award; applications are due June 15.
