POSNA Directed Research Grant

About this program

Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) offers up to two Directed Research Grants annually of up to $50,000 each for 1–2 year projects that aim to substantially improve the quality and/or safety of pediatric orthopaedic care, with priority for collaborative studies demonstrating global applicability, clear measurable outcomes, feasibility (preliminary data or pilot work), and potential for future publications and extramural funding. Proposals are evaluated on significance and relevance to POSNA’s mission, originality/innovation, scientific quality, investigator track record, feasibility, and likelihood of attracting future funding. The principal investigator must be a Candidate or Active POSNA member in good standing; non‑orthopaedic MDs, PhDs, or DVMs are eligible only if affiliated with an orthopaedic department and partnered with a POSNA orthopaedic surgeon as Co‑PI, and current POSNA grant recipients (except microgrant awardees) may not apply as PI or co‑investigator until their award is completed. Applicants may also apply concurrently for select named awards (e.g., Angela S.M. Kuo, Arthur H. Huene, St. Giles Young Investigator) by completing the grant application, indicating the award, and submitting any additional required materials.
