Proctor Medal

About this program

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) offers the Proctor Medal to honor outstanding basic or clinical research applied to ophthalmology, with the recipient receiving the Proctor Award Lecture, medal, and complimentary travel, lodging, registration, and per diem for the ARVO Annual Meeting. Applications open November 1, 2026, and close March 1, 2027. Nominees and nominators need not be ARVO members, but current ARVO officers, trustees, and Awards Committee members are ineligible; nominations require a nomination letter, supporter information, summary statement, Google Scholar link, and CV. Nominations are subject to institutional supporter restrictions and may be submitted only once per award cycle, with a two-year waiting period before re-nomination.
