Professional Development Fund

About this program

The Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) administers the Professional Development Fund, a $5,000 annual pool providing individual grants of up to $500 to help eligible ASA members access relevant professional development activities; eligible costs include registration, travel, accommodation and childcare but exclude the ASA annual conference. Applications are submitted online when the Fund opens (approximately twice yearly) and are assessed as received with outcomes advised within three weeks; successful applicants generally pay up-front and are reimbursed on submission of receipts (reimbursement processed within two weeks) and must provide a short (max 200-word) report that may be published. Applicants must be individual financial ASA members of at least one year’s standing (including Student, Emerging Professional and Concession members); corporate representatives are ineligible, and a member may receive funding only once per financial year. Selection gives priority to regional members, those who otherwise could not attend, relevance to the archival and recordkeeping profession, prior receipt of ASA funding, and the level of benefit to the member.
