Project Support Program

About this program

The Aaron Copland Fund for Music’s Project Support Program offers restricted grants (typically $2,000–$20,000, with larger awards possible) to performing ensembles, presenters, music service organizations, and record companies for discrete projects that promote public knowledge and appreciation of contemporary American concert music and contemporary jazz. Eligible activities must occur in the support year (September 1, 2026–August 31, 2027) and feature contemporary repertoire (composed within the last 40 years) by American composers or non‑citizen composers who have lived and worked in the U.S.; supported project types include live performances, recordings/streams, dance/theater with live music, installations, professional development, artist support, radio/podcasts, and archive programs. Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of two years of programming or release history and hold 501(c)(3) status (or foreign equivalent) or apply with a qualified fiscal sponsor; record companies may apply with a Federal Tax ID (EIN) without nonprofit status. Preliminary applications are due July 30, 2026 (11:59 PM ET) and the Fund does not support K–12/collegiate education, student or volunteer ensembles, commissioning fees, competitions, endowments, capital projects, or capacity building.
