PROLAB Promoting Research Opportunities for Latin American Biochemists

About this program

The PROLAB program, jointly sponsored by the Pan-American Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, funds graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and new investigators from designated Latin American and Iberian countries to conduct one- to six-month research visits in U.S. or Canadian laboratories. Awards up to $7,000 reimburse travel and living expenses, with host institutions expected to cover additional living costs for longer stays. Applicants must be from PABMB-active countries, submit materials in English including a two-page research proposal, CV, budget, host laboratory agreement letter, and recommendation letter from their adviser or department head. Selection prioritizes scientific excellence, the quality of the research proposal and recommendation, publications, English proficiency, and the host laboratory's research infrastructure and available funds.
